Good to know

Even if you submit your request before 1 October 2026, completion before 1 January 2027 may not always be possible. A value transfer can take several months, sometimes as long as 6 to 7 months.

If the value transfer cannot be completed before 1 January 2027, it will resume once both pension funds have transitioned to the new pension system.

5. How long does it take to process a value transfer?

The entire process takes up to about 6-7 months.

  1. You initiate the value transfer by sending SPF the Value Transfer form.
  2. After you have submitted it, SPF will send you a confirmation of receipt and you then do not need to do anything for some time. The pension funds will then start working behind the scenes on your behalf.
  3. Within one month, SPF will ask the other fund how much pension you have accrued there and what its value is.
  4. The other fund has two months to provide this information to SPF.
  5. As soon as SPF receives the calculation from your old fund, SPF will calculate how much pension you will receive for this at SPF. (At this point, the calculation does not yet include the transition bonus).
  6. You will receive a message about this and then it is your turn again. You have two months to decide whether you want your pension transfer to proceed. If you wish, you can also engage a recognised pension advisor to discuss whether the value transfer is in your best interest.
  7. As soon as you let us know that you wish the value transfer to proceed, we ask the old pension fund to transfer the pension value to us. They must do this within 10 days.

6. In which situations can I not (yet) effect a value transfer?

In some situations it is temporarily not possible to transfer your accrued pension to SPF. For example, when your previous pension fund has already transitioned to the new pension scheme. In that case you cannot transfer it until we have also transitioned to the new pension scheme. In some situations it is temporarily not possible to transfer your accrued pension to SPF. 7. By what percentage will SPF increase the starting capital in my pension account?

This percentage depends on the actual funding level as at 1 January 2027 (the transition funding level). The approximate increase SPF is able to provide is set out in the table below. Note: This still requires approval from DNB (the Netherlands central bank). Once the definitive 1 January 2027 SPF figures have been determined, we can calculate the final percentages.
