A change will be made to the Board. In addition, there have been some recent reappointments that we would like to inform you about. 

Renewing our acquaintance with Arthur Smit as Board Member

Willem Grin will be retiring as SPF Board Member in July 2023. He will be succeeded by Arthur Smit. After announcing that Willem would be retiring from the Board, we invited all pensioners to put themselves forward as a candidate for the position on the Board. Arthur responded to this invitation. Since he was the only candidate, there was no need to hold an election. He was therefore nominated as Board Member. The nomination has since been assessed positively by the Supervisory Board and by De Nederlandsche Bank. Arthur will take over from Willem in July.

Arthur is a familiar face on the SPF Board, having been a Board Member and Chairman of the former SABIC-IP fund for many years. He was also a member of the SPF Board for several years and also acted as Vice Chairman. He stepped down from the SPF Board on January 1, 2021. Now, he is rejoining the SPF Board as an experienced member. We would like to wish Arthur every success in this role. And, of course, we would also like to thank Willem Grin for all that he has done for our pension fund and would like to wish him good health and happiness.

Other appointments

Arnout Korteweg has been appointed as independent Chairman of SPF for a second term. In this capacity, Arnout ensures that the Board functions optimally. 

Jos van Gisbergen was nominated as an SPF Board Member for a third term. Jos also has an important role on the Board as Risk Key Officer. In this position, Jos advises the Board on all relevant risks related to the fund.
